Masks with Tranquility — a Sustainable Knitting Treatment
At this retreat you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in techniques in knitting, stretching and relaxation — all with a focus on how you can give new life to your “left-overs” from previous knitting projects. When body and mind are in balance, creativity and joy of knitting are opened up.
You will be introduced to the concept of sustainable knitwear while taking breaks to let your thoughts flow freely: with a relaxing walk by the North Sea, a trip to the wilderness bath, sauna bus and lots of cosy conversations with other knitwear souls. And you will be pampered with delicious food in beautiful settings.
About your teacher
Ulla Madsen — physiotherapist, passionate knitter and experienced teacher, will guide you through the days. With more than 50 years of knitting needles experience, she is full of creativity, ideas and a love of colour. She inspires new, sustainable projects where you get to enjoy the yarn you already have lying around.
Bring a good portion of yarn and the appropriate sticks — and let yourself be carried away by Ulla's infectious energy in a relaxed and nourishing atmosphere.
Ulla has, among other things, participated in Den Store Knitting on TV Syd, exhibited with Dronningestrik at Gram Slot, gave lectures at both Fanø Knitting Festival and Creative Days in Fredericia. She additionally teaches at Gram Højskole and is active in Serious Strik for Fun.
About the place
Lønstrup Strandhotel is located with the first parquet to the North Sea and offers a rare combination of rustic charm and modern comfort. The hotel exudes tranquility and presence, where the buzz of the wind and the roar of the sea are a natural part of your stay, and where you can retire to cozy surroundings after a day in nature or with knitting needles. Here, both atmosphere and hospitality are turned up, so you can feel at home, whether you are looking for immersion, fellowship or just a good night's sleep to the sound of the sea.
Lønstrup in February is not for the faint of heart. The wind blows, the sea roars, and the dunes lie raw and relentless -- but this is where the true presence is found. Nature is not just background; it is an active participant. You'll get salt in your hair, sand between your toes should you dare to leave your boots in the mare's straw and maybe a splash of rain on your nose as you move out into the countryside. It messes up the system and reminds you that the body is made for more than office chairs and mobile screens. Yes, you can of course retire to your room, find the living room with some knitwear and a cup of tea or maybe go to a gallery that Lønstrup also abounds in — a resort town that likes to stay open outside the tourist season.
